Paula Abdul slams Simon Cowell

Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell

She once warbled about how ‘Opposites Attract’ alongside a cartoon cat, but American Idol judge Paula Abdul may since have changed her mind.

Pop star turned TV personality Paula has slammed Simon Cowell, branding him a “masterful bully” and claiming the whole experience of working alongside him leaves her physically shaken. The poor woman also reckons she quit the show an astounding seven times on her first day at work over catty Cowell’s put-downs. Presumably she then remembered her six-figure salary.

“I couldn’t believe that someone was actually getting away with crushing fragile kids,” sobbed Paula. “I couldn’t take the pain I saw. When someone attacks you with criticism that isn’t constructive, sometimes it’s hard to take. As a singer who’s had success herself, I know how hard that is,” she continued. Whoa! Surely no one ever dissed such masterful ditties as ‘Straight Up’ and ‘Rush Rush’, Paula?

Oh, and it seems the feeling was mutual when the pair first met too. Simon has admitted in the past that he “hated” Paula in the early days, although he’s since told the press that they “fancy each other”. Naturally, Simon.

In other news from Planet Cowell, the pop mogul has hinted he may cancel American Idol when its five-year deal ends next year. Sources even suggest Simon might replace the show with an American version of The X Factor. Time to start scouring the situations vacant, Paula!
